The qualification will give learners the essential skills and knowledge required to become effective and confident teachers, trainers, or instructors in a variety of educational settings, one on one or to a group of people. The course covers those who teach the 14+ age range, in the post 16 sector, within community learning or for private organisations.

How does the course work? The CET is assessed in a number of ways throughout the course to ensure that learners are compliant with the standards and learning outcomes. Your assessor will support you throughout the course and can be contacted via email and your feedback will be given on the learning platform.
Assignments– Learners will complete a number of assignments for each section whilst on the course. The assignments will include theory and need to relate to real workplace or teaching situations. The assignments have been created to explore and apply the full teaching and learning cycle. You will be provided with feedback and if needed you will have the opportunity to resubmit assignments with additional work.
Teaching– You will be required to plan and deliver 3- one hour teaching sessions in a real classroom situation. You will also be required to submit a teaching log and evidence that you completed a minimum of 30 hours classroom teaching experience. Once you have completed your course, your will receive a hardcopy and digital copy of your certificate. There are no additional fees for certificates except for replacement hard copies which will cost £25.
- The qualification is assessed through the completion of written assessments, personal statements and evidence produced during your teaching practice, such as resources, lesson plans and schemes of work.
- You will be expected to evidence wider reading and include references in your work.
- The total qualification time for this qualification is 360 hours. The guided learning hours for this qualification is 140 hours.
- You will be given on-going support by your experienced and well qualified Tutor
- You will also receive detailed feedback on each of your assessments within 3 working days of submitting your work.

In this unit the learners will:
- Understand the purpose and use of resources in own specialist area

- Be able to evaluate own practice in relation to development and use of resources in own specialist area
Unit 7- GLH 15
This is a top up Unit if you want to transfer credits from the Level 3 CAVA. You would do this unit instead of Unit 6 listed above. Please speak to your tutor if you want to transfer credits.

Preparing for the personal tutoring role
In this unit the learner will:
- Understand own role and responsibilities in relation to the personal tutoring role
- Understand factors affecting learners’ approaches to learning
- Understand the use of personal tutoring in a specific context
- Understand how personal learning targets are created and monitored
Recognition of prior learning
If you have completed the Level 3 CAVA, AET or Level 4 IQA then you may wish to use credits from those courses and submit them for ‘Recognition of Prior Learning’ Please mention this to your tutor before starting your course. You will need to provide your certificate as proof.
Level 3 Award in Education and Training
- If you have already hold the Level 3 AET then you will have already completed Unit 1 from the Level 4 CET. You can transfer the credits from that course to this one and proceed onto Unit 2.
Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement
- It is possible to transfer credits from this course to the Level 4 CET. If you were to do this then you would complete Unit 7 instead of Unit 6.
Level 4 in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
- It is possible to transfer credits from this course to the Level 4 CET. If you were to do this then you would just complete Units 1-5.

Eligibility
- Hold a relevant qualification in what you wish to teach, at least one level above your learners. This would be at least at a minimum of Level 3.
- Have reading, writing and communication skills adequate to meet the requirements of the qualification and be able to complete the written assessments to a good standard.
- Have no criminal convictions that would prevent you from working in the capacity of a teacher.
- Have access to an Expert Witness. They must hold a level 5 diploma in education or equivalent teaching degree or your personal tutor assigned to you can observe you.

Frequently asked questions
No we never charge interest or do any credit checks for monthly payments, we will take recurring card payments on the same date each month from your first payment. You will only receive your certificate once payment has been made in full.
The CET requires you to be observed delivering teaching in a real classroom- simulation is not allowed and your observations must be taught in a real teaching environment. They can be on a topic of your choice. They can be video recorded either on a webcam or in a classroom. You can be observed by an expert witness but they must hold a level 5 diploma in education or equivalent teaching degree or your personal tutor assigned to you can observe you.
You will access our online learning platform where you will find all the learning materials and resources. You will make your way through the assignments which will be marked by your personal tutor.
If you are using your own learners then your expert witness will sign off any evidence based tasks or observations. When using our learners you will choose assessment methods that don’t involve face to face observations.
You will have your own personal tutor for the duration of the course, you will be able to email them and arrange calls for further support. Even though this is a self study course you will have one to one support whenever you need it.
The course contains documents and handouts to provide background reading and guide your learning. You will also be expected to complete wider reading/ research to help you to complete your assignments.
This is a term you may see that relates to this AET qualification. The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) replaced the Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTTLS). PTLLS is no longer delivered but is still accepted for those that completed their training before the AET was introduced.
On Average learners take around 2-3 months to complete the course but some finish it sooner and others take longer. It really comes down to how much time you can put in. You will have 12 months to complete your course. We will be able to discuss an extension beyond 12 months and there may be admin fees applied to continue.
